Of course, even if you choose to raise the price somewhat to cover this, you would still take the hit on the units in the field since they are already sold (assuming MP3 support would be a firmware/fpga change). I don't know about Music Group, but in my department, this amount would be "annoying", but not devastating when it hit the bottom line. It is unlikely that you would change the price of the X32 by $2.00, so the company would simply have to absorb this cost.
I am guessing that you have sold around 50,000 X32 family members at this time, so the support of MP3 decode alone would be $100,000.00. I work in automotive, so I can relate to high volume cost issues. I am sure that the apple AAC file format is much more difficult to swallow, and is much less important to support. It seems like the $1.25 for mp3Pro and $0.75 for normal MP3 would be a very small price to pay for such a valuable feature.

X32 is already an absolute killer in its price segment, especially with upcoming firmware updates. No surprise that MIDAS brains influence design of all Behringer-owned brands as well. I've worked with Volkswagen electronics design group (in Palo Alto, California, now in Belmont, CA), the same group designs electronics for all Volkswagen-owned brands, from Bentley to Skoda, nothing is wrong with that. The 3216 digital mixer they've had years ago doesn't really count, it was a repacked Yamaha 01v.

X32 is nothing like Behringer had pre-MIDAS, and there's a lot of similarities with MIDAS Pro desks. From what I've heard in Vegas, Uli used some MIDAS designers to work on X32, whether as Behringer or MIDAS employees, doesn't really matter.
I didn't mean the exact MIDAS design team.
